Mariana Ayana, age 19, is an IB alumni currently majoring in Biology at Sorbonne
Université. Mariana has been a volunteer for Ohana A.C since 2016, working
closely with children and vulnerable youth. She’s also an advocate for eradicating
gender-based violence and achieving gender equality in STEM fields in Mexico,
having co-founded Girl Up Monterrey, the first club in her city and Girl Up’s “Club
of the year 2017-2018”.
Mariana served as co-emcee in the 7th annual Leadership Summit and was also
one of the 21 girls from 13 different countries to participate in Disney’s and Girl Up’s “Dream Big, Princess” campaign in July 2018, which aimed to empower the next generation of leaders by spotlighting female trailblazers and sharing their stories.
Mariana hopes to specialize in neuroscience in the future and continue advocating for women empowerment.
